The final morning of the 2025 FIA European Rally Championship is under way, with the crews having made their first of two passes through today’s pair of highly demanding asphalt stages.
Championship leader Miko Marczyk, who struggled badly on Saturday, bounced back in style on SS9 with a blistering run almost 15 seconds faster than anyone else. His time lifted him back into contention as Mille Johansson went off and Norbert Maior suffered both an overshoot and a 10-second penalty. Mads Østberg impressed again, coming within half a second of Marczyk’s pace to climb into second overall, behind rally leader Jon Armstrong, who drove cautiously to protect his title hopes.
On SS10, Marczyk eased off to protect his advantage, while Robert Virves went off the road, handing Marczyk the final podium place. Østberg consolidated second, while Armstrong held the rally lead despite losing more time. The Irishman remains in position to win Croatia Rally, but with Marczyk now back in the top three, the Polish driver is on course to clinch the 2025 ERC title.
With two stages still to run and no service break – only a remote refuel – the championship fight remains finely balanced. Armstrong must hope for late drama, while Marczyk will look to hold his ground in treacherous conditions to secure his first European crown.
